一、Literature Grades 9 1 credit

Course description：This course emphasizes the fundamental language skills of reading, writing, speaking, listening, thinking, viewing and presenting. The course includes studies of various literary genres: short story, novel, drama, and non-fiction. The development of critical reading and writing skills is a major emphasis of the course.

US History I gives students an understanding of the story of America's past. In turn, this enables students to make decisions that will lead to fruitful and productive lives and futures for themselves and posterity. Reading, analysis, critical thinking and writing skills are taught and developed during the course of study. The chronological content of this course begins with Native American Culture and ends with our study of the Civil War.

Part of a two-year sequence in American history, this course examines the history of the United States from 1865 to the present. Organized around key topics presented chronologically, the course focuses on major issues and ideas rather than specific dates and details. Class projects are designed to help students develop specific skills while increasing their knowledge of American history. Unit assessments provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate those skills and apply significant historical concepts and conclusions.

Advanced Placement United States History is a challenging course that is meant to be the equivalent of a freshman college course and can earn students college credit. It is a two semester survey of American history from the migration of Native Americans to the present time. Solid reading and writing skills, along with a willingness to devote considerable time to homework and study, are necessary to succeed. Emphasis is placed on critical and analytical thinking skills, essay writing, and on interpretation of primary and secondary sources.

五、AP US Government and Politics *, Grade 12, Year-long

Students will be expected to analyze and interpret data and other information from visual materials such as maps, charts, graphs and cartoons, as these materials are likely to appear as part of free-response questions on the AP Examination. Students will have opportunity to practice these skills in the debates and class discussion assignments indicated on this syllabus. One of the strengths of the text selected for use in this course is the variety and quality of maps, charts, graphs and cartoons included in each chapter. These graphics constitute an important part of the text, and should be treated as an essential part of every reading assignment. Students should be prepared to discuss them in class, and expect to see them as part of free-response questions on unit examinations and the final examination.

六、AP Economics *, Grade 12, Year-long

The purpose of this course is to give students a thorough understanding of both Microeconomic and Macroeconomic principles and theories. This course is designed to give students a strong background in the basics of economics along with the ability to excel on the AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics exams. Microeconomics topics will include the nature of markets, the factors and essences of supply and demand, government influences and the ideas of equity and efficiency. In the Macroeconomics portion, topics will include economic systems, national incomes and price levels, measuring and interpreting economic growth, international markets, the financial sector, economic welfare, and economic stabilization and growth.
