Denise sat down with classmate Grace Li for an interview about her achievements in college preparation.

接下来Denise Huang将与她的同学Grace Li来谈一下在大学准备中取得优异成绩的点滴。

Grace: You have achieved so much in three years at ALAIS, what is the goal that motivates you so much?

Grace: 你在ALAIS的三年中取得了诸多成就，那是什么目标一直激励着你前进?

Denise: My dream has always been to return to my hometown Hongkong to study medicine at Hong Kong University. This is the major driving force that motivates me. I know I must work hard to continue to improve, so I have a better chance of being accepted at HKU. I' m also keeping my options open, including top universities in the US, such as Johns Hopkins University. Those who work hard can choose their universities, not the other way around.

Denise:我一直想回到我的家乡香港 ，去香港大学学医。这是激励我前进最主要的动力。我明白我必须不停地奔跑才能保持进步,这样才会有更大的机会被香港大学录取。当然，我也保持开放的态度，美国约翰霍普金斯大学等大学也是我的理想院校，我明白只有通过努力，才能如愿选择自己心仪的大学。

Grace:Requirements to attend top universities include high exam scores. What are your plans for the exams this year? How are you getting prepared?

Grace：想进入世界名校需要很高的考试分数，你今年的考试计划是什么呢?你是怎么准备的呢?

In May, I will take 4 AP tests (Biology, Chemistry, Calculous, Chinese). In June, I will take SAT II Biology E/M test. In September, I will take TOEFL again to boost my score. I' m still debating whether or not I will takeanother SAT exam. These days, I' m very busy applying to various summer schools and research programs. After all the exams, I will return to my tennis training and play tournaments to earn an official UTR rank(an international tennis ranking). I am confident all of the hard work will pay off.

Denise:今年5月，我将参加4门AP课程的考试(生物、化学、微积分和中文) ; 6月份要参加SAT II生物(生态学/分子)的考试,学生可以根据个人喜好， 在考试当天选择进行生态学版或者分子版的生物考试。在9月, 我还会再考-次SAT ,希望可以冲刺更高分。这些天，我忙着申请许多夏校和研究项目。在考完所有考试后，我计划继续网球训练，并且参加比赛，期望在官方URT (国际网球排名)中获得一席之位。 我相信所有的努力都会有所回报。

Grace:How do you prepare for so many exams? Will you share some of your strategies with us?

Grace：同时准备那么多考试太不容易了，你可以与我们分享一些你的心得吗?

Denise: I have several strategies but please be aware that my strategies might not be suitable for everyone.

Denise:我有几种策略，但是请注意, 我的策略可能并不适合所有人。

Tip 1:Purchase 2-3 related textbooks and read. I prefer printed books so I can highlight important lines and take notes on the side. I strongly recommend the following exam preparation books: Barron’s, Princeton Review, and Kaplan. Carefully read each and complete all the practice problems.

购买2-3本相关的教科书并阅读,我更喜欢印刷书籍，因为我可以在重要的部分用马克笔标记出来，并且在页面空白处做笔记。我强烈推荐以下应试书籍：Barron’s, Princeton Review, and Kaplan。仔细阅读每一页并完成所有的练习题对将对大家受益匪浅。

Tip 2:Make use of paper flashcards or Quizlet (online flashcards). This tip is especially useful for those who are taking subject tests or APs. You need to memorize every detail. The process of making the flashcards might be very demanding but the outcome is sweet. Always remember to review the flashcards several times per week.

使用纸质闪卡或者Quizlet(在线抽认卡)，这对参加学科考试或者AP考试的学生特别管用。你需要记住每一个细节，制作闪卡的过程可能比较痛苦，但是结果会让人无比欣慰。始终记得每周都要多次查看闪卡。

Tip 3:Practice, practice, practice! Do all the practice problems at least once (twice is even better)! By doing practice problems, you learn use the information you read from the books. By practicing questions multiple times, you will not be surprised by any type of questions you are going to see on the actual test.

做题!做题!做题!所有的习题必须刷一遍(两遍更好)!通过刷题，你可以学会如何使用书中读取的信息。通过多次练习，你将对所有考试中即将遇到的所有题型熟记于心。

Tip 4:Get a notebook and record all problems that you did wrong. In Chinese it is called a 错题本. It is always beneficial to go through what you did wrong the second time and even the third time. During the process of copying the problems and answers, you will gain a deeper understanding of the knowledge.

准备一本笔记本作为错题集。反复查看你之前做错的题目也会对你有帮助。在重复查看问题和答案的过程中，我们对知识也会有更深入的了解。

Grace: What advice would you give other students?

Grace: 你会给其它学生什么建议?

I strongly recommend that you have a goal -- a dream school, a dream major, or even a desired score. This significantly helps when you are suffering through the hard work; a big goal is the best motivation. Recently, I' ve read a book that inspires me -- 别在吃苦的年龄选择安逸，by Xie Pu (2018). I believe the quote applies to all of us. No matter what happens, remember it is not the end of the world, and what you' ve lost will always come back in a different way. I have my fingers crossed for everyone.

我强烈推荐大家要建立一个目标，可以是一所梦想中的学校、梦想的专业，也可以是预期想达到的一个分数。这个目标就像一盏明灯，可以在你刷题疲劳时点亮你的内心，给你很大的安慰。我认为一个伟大的目标是的动力。最近，我读了一本对我非常有 启发的书，书名叫《别在吃苦的年龄选择安逸》， 作者:谢普( 2018 ) .我相信这句话适用于我们所有人。无论发生什么事情，请一定记得这不是世界的尽头。一切努力都会以不同的形式回报我们!我为所有人祈祷!
