伴随着六月的到来，美国Lee Academy高级中学(上影校区)2018届毕业典礼在万和昊美艺术酒店隆重举行，师生家长齐聚一堂共同庆祝2018届学生圆满毕业。以下是Michael Hutchins校长致辞(节选)。

Good Afternoon, my name is Michael Hutchins and I am the Headmaster of American Lee Academy International school of Shanghai.

下午好，我是美国Lee Academy高级中学(上影校区)美方校长Michael Hutchins。

To our parents, relatives, members of our board of directors’ faculty, staff and other distinguish guests and most importantly to the members of the senior class of American Lee Academy I welcome you to our first ever commencement exercise.

亲爱的家长朋友们，亲友们，教职工领导同志们，教员及我们尊敬的来宾朋友，还有最为重要的美国Lee Academy的毕业班同学们，欢迎来到我们首届毕业典礼。

Seniors the diploma you will hold in your hands today is just your learner’s permit for the rest of the drive through life. Remember, you don’t have to be smarter than the next person, all you must do is be willing to work harder than the next person.

今天你将握在手上的毕业证书仅只是你后面学者生涯的许可证。记住，你不需要比你旁边的人聪明，你所需要做的只是比你身边的人更加努力。

Don’t be afraid of fear. Because it sharpens you, it challenges you, it makes you stronger, and when you run away from fear, you also run away from the opportunity to be your best possible self. You will have failures in your life, but it is what you do during those valleys that will determine the heights of your successes.

不要惧怕“恐惧感”。因为恐惧感使你精锐，它挑战了你，它让你更加强大。当你躲避这份“恐惧感”时，你亦远离了变成更好自己的可能性。你的人生中会有失败，但正是你在人生低谷里做了什么决定了你将会有的人生高度。

For the most important decisions in your life, trust your intuition, and then work with everything you have, to prove it right. As you get older, you realize that no one has all the answer. It turns out that life is an exercise in living with the certainty of uncertainty. If you must leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition take that risk, you will be rewarded.

关于人生中重要的抉择，请相信自己的直觉，并竭尽所能的去奋斗，去证明自己的直觉是对的。当你成长后，你将发觉没有任何人会有人生所有的答案。人生更像是一次游走于确定与不确定之间的练习。如果你一定要离开让你舒适的城市去往直觉指引的荒芜之地冒险，你会最终被奖赏。

You can’t get there by bus, only demanding work and risk and by not quite knowing what you’re doing, but what you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover will be yourself. Remember, if your uniform isn’t dirty you haven’t been in the game. You can’t control how smart you are, how funning you are, how good looking you are. The one thing you can control in your life is how hard you work.

你不能乘坐直通车到达彼岸，你只能凭借奋斗，承担未知的风险，和对自己所做事业的不确定摸索前行。但你沿途的发现将精彩绝伦，你将发现的东西都会成为你的一部分。请记住，如果制服未脏，你就不算游戏人间。你不能控制你有多聪明，你有多风趣，或是你看起来多漂亮。人生中唯一你可以决定的是你有多努力奋斗。

Creativity is a renewable resource. Be as creative as you like, as often as you like because you can never run out. Be innovative, do something different than anybody else has done. Creativity is the engine of economic and human prosperity. Your education is a dress rehearsal for a life that is yours to lead.

创造力是一个可再生能源。尽可能随心所欲的施展你的创造力，因为你永远不可能用完它们。做有创造性的人，做别人还没有做过的不一样的事情。创造力是经济发展和人类繁荣的发动机。你的教育是你人生的带妆彩排。

You’re going to be doing things and you are going to be scared. It’s natural. Everybody is. And when that happens, and it’s going to happen more than once, go back to the days of your childhood, take a deep breath and just say, I’m stronger than I seem, I’m braver than I believe, and I’m smarter than I think and then go do it.

你们将要进行伟大事业并将要被即将发生的事吓坏。这很正常。每个人都会害怕。当这发生时，这些事接二连三会发生不止一次。回到你自己的童年时光去寻找答案吧，深呼吸并对自己说：“我比我看起来的强大多了，我比我相信的更勇敢，我比我想的要更聪明”然后放手去做。

You get to make your own luck. 80% of success in your career will come from just showing up. The world is run by those who show up… not those who wait to be asked. You have nothing to lose. Everything you have acquired of value is locked inside of you. You cannot authentically live anyone’s life but your own. That is the deal life offers you.

自己的幸运自己造。你事业的成功有80%仅只来源于到岗。这个世界是被在岗位上的人所支配的，而不是靠人驱赶的推磨驴。你没有什么好失去的。所有你需要的价值已经锁进了你的身体。你不能过别人的人生而只有自己的，那是生活给你的买卖。

Before you leave this hall today. Go and see your mother and father. Give them a hug and a kiss or a hand shake. Their sun rises and sets on you. You will never know how much they love you until you have children of your own one day.

今天在你离开这个大厅前。去看看你的爸爸和妈妈们，给他们一个拥抱，吻或是握手。他们的恩泽在你们身上升起或落下。你永远不可能知道他们有多爱你，直到你有朝一日拥有了自己的孩子。
