Principal Holt: First of all, we are very pleased you have joined the teaching team at ALAIS and have already witnessed your creativity and excellent ability to inspire students to excel. What attracted you as a teacher to ALAIS?

Josh校长:首先,我们非常高兴你选择成为ALAIS教师团队的一员,同时我也目睹了你在课堂上充满激情的授课表现,这极大地激发了学生们的创作。想采访一下,是什么原因使你选择了ALAIS?

Bruno: ALAIS offered me the chance to develop my professional career as an Art Teacher. I also liked the idea of teaching in a small high school in which the teaching staff is very welcoming. It is also rare to find a school with so many students passionate about the arts, like ALAIS students.

Principal Holt: What is your general philosophy of education?

Josh校长:可以谈谈你的教育理念吗?

Bruno: I have always valued education and consider it to be crucial for my personal and creative development. My inspiration stems from having watched other teachers positively influence students. This is what has inspired me to join the educational system and become a key instrument in shaping young peoples’ lives. I try to bring a unique perspective to the art classroom to inspire and motivate students to learn and to encourage pride in being an artist.

Bruno:对于我个人而言,我是非常重视教育的,并且认为教学对于我个人的职业发展以及创作力的激发都起着至关重要的作用。每当我看到其他教师积极授课时,这总会激发我的灵感,这是我选择成为一名教师的重要原因。同时,我希望我可以在青少年的成长过程中帮助他们塑造人格,教给他们知识,激发他们的创作力。我尝试着把我对艺术的独特观点带到课堂中,希望可以激发并鼓励学生勇于成为艺术家。

Principal Holt: How has UbD helped your curriculum and instruction, and how do you think it help students’ best understand?

Josh校长:UbD教学方法和理念在你的课程和教学中起到什么样的帮助作用?你认为它如何帮助学生更好地实现理解?

Bruno: Working with this framework has given me consistency, which has helped improve my teaching. The fact that we always [teach our students to apply the knowledge and skills learnt into real world situations helps their understanding of my art more clearly.

Bruno:用UbD的教学理念来授课让我的课程更有延续性,在很大程度上帮助了我的教学工作。事实上,我们在授课的时候,一直要求学生把他们所学到的理论知识运用到实际操作中,这样的模式帮助学生更好地理解他们所学的知识。

Principal Holt: What is the most important lesson you have learned as a teacher at ALAIS?

Josh校长:你作为一名教师,在ALAIS中学到的最重要的一课是什么?

Bruno: The idea of self-reflection as a way to improve your teaching.

Bruno:自我反馈是提高教学质量的很好途径。

Principal Holt: Describe one highlight of your time teaching at ALAIS?

Josh校长:描述你在ALAIS教学的一个亮点?

Bruno: My most memorable experience is] when [the students finished the abstract painting installation in the class. It [helped] the students’self-confidence and pride, and I believe they felt like real artists, which was a powerful motivational moment for all of us.

Bruno:我最难忘的经历是当我的学生完成了一个抽象绘画作品时,我发现这些作品让学生们自信满满,让他们为自己感到自豪。我相信那一刻的他们肯定觉得自己是一位真正的艺术家,这同时激励着他们为各自的理想继续努力。

Principal Holt: What are your goals for your students who take your classes?

Josh校长:你对学生的期望是什么?

Bruno: I want my students to be able to develop their imagination and their creativity and to apply it in their daily lives. They do not need to become professional artists but develop a critical, creative mind that will support their future careers.

Bruno:我希望我的学生不单是在艺术创作中,而是在他们每一天的日常生活中,都可以尽情想象,大胆创作。他们将来并非一定成为专业的艺术家,但是拥有批判性和创造力的思维对将来的职业发展会相当有益。

Principal Holt: Any additional comments you would like to add?

Josh校长:你还有什么想分享的吗?

Bruno: My biggest achievement as a teacher at ALAIS has been to create a classroom atmosphere that supports creativity. Most of my students feel comfortable enough to express themselves without shackles that restrain their imagination and they don’t fear failure, so they work hard to improve.

Bruno:我在ALAIS的成就是为我的学生创造了一种舒适的教室氛围,这种教室氛围让学生和我都感到很舒适,我们在这样的氛围中可以畅所欲言,发挥他们的任何灵感,他们不会感到恐惧,也不畏失败,这正是我们会进步的原因。
