Grade 9

A friend is someone who one feels affection towards and returns those affectionate feelings.

朋友是相互性的，彼此给予帮助。

The vast majority of Year 9 students who have just come to Lee Academy believe that their greatest progress has been in their English speaking and writing skills. This is because they are able to find more chances to practice speaking in a language that is not their mother tongue and practice writing through the homework and Authentic Assessments that teachers assign to them. The overall environment also helps our students, as they need to get used to the American way of doing things when most of them have attended Chinese public schools in the past.

作为新生的9年级同学们来说，来到美国Lee Academy高级中学(上影校区)他们的进步是英语口语和写作能力。这是因为他们能够拥有更多的机会练习用母语以外的语言沟通和交流，并通过外教老师们分配给他们的家庭作业和AA报告来练习写作。Lee的整体学习氛围也有助于Lee的学子们，因为他们未来将迈入美式的行事风格，而大多数学生都曾在中国的公立学校就读。

Grade 10

The relationship between roommates can vary from a cold rivalry to a very heart-warming friendship. Though they may not have known each other before ending up in a living space together, once they get to know the other a little bit better they can get along very well.

室友之间的感情很奇妙，寝室关系的变化可以从从冷漠的较劲到温暖的友谊。虽然他们在一起生活之前一般都不认识彼此，但一旦他们开始了解对方，他们就能相处得很好。

This school is a truly wonderful opportunity for the Year 10 students. As everybody knows, in semester one there was an election for the position of Vice President in the Student Council. The candidates for the position were both Year 10 students, and from that experience they learned leadership and confidence, as well as how to organize a speech and speak to the public effectively. Most of them have already been attending our school for one year, and have adapted excellently to the new and strange learning environment.

ALAIS对10年级的学生们来说是一个非常好的平台。 众所周知，在2018-2019年上学期，学生会举办了一场学生会副主席的选举活动，该职位的候选人都是10年级的学生，他们从中学习到领导力和自信心，以及如何组织演讲和有效地与公共演讲。10年级的95%的同学已经在Lee学习了一年，并且很好地适应了学习环境。

Grade 11

Inevitably, friends will argue. They argue over silly things like what one prefers and what the other prefers, the merits of something or even over another person. They could argue over something every day, but in the end they would still be friends. The same can be said for classmates.

朋友们不可避免地会争论。大家聚在一起经常会讨论一些相对听起来愚蠢的事情，比如一个人喜欢什么，另一个人喜欢什么，某一件事情的优点，甚至是另外一个人的优点等等诸如此类的话题。朋友之间每天都会为某件事喋喋不休，甚至发生争吵，但最终他们还是彼此的能够在一起谈笑风生的好伙伴，对于同学来说也是如此。

A number of the Year 11 students are preparing for or taking the TOFEL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) or already have taken the tests. A school where they are encouraged to form their words more naturally like native speakers benefits them greatly in this field. The happy and welcoming environment also helps them become more outgoing, and the freedom to choose what they want gifts these students with the ability to choose their own path.

当跨入11年级的时候，同学们就要开始准备或者参加两大重要标化考试：托福和

学术能力评估测试，有部分同学们或者已经测试完成。Lee鼓励学生们像外教们一样更自然的表达自己的想法，这对11年级的同学们来说是很好的锻炼机会。在快乐和友好的环境下，Lee的学子们变得更加外向，并且可以自由选择他们想要学习的科目，让学生有能力选择自己的学习方向。

Grade 12

As people who see each other every school day, they probably would establish at the very least an acquaintanceship. However, if the pair begin to genuinely care for each other, trust each other, and protect each other, then it may be safe to say that they are friends.

当五湖四海的学子们相聚在一起，每天在学校见面，他们可能至少会建立一个关系更亲近的伙伴。当两人开始真诚地关心彼此，互相信任，互相照顾，从那一刻开始他们就是彼此的朋友了。

Four years ago, our little International School in Shanghai was even smaller a community than it is now. A lot of the senior students who will graduate next year may feel nostalgia for their days as a younger Secondary student. Going to an entirely new continent, an entirely new country for College may be slightly overwhelming, so it is good that they are already accustomed to the American school systems and prepared adequately for the world of America. The seniors have most likely changed quite a lot during their time at Lee Academy, and we hope that they shall continue to change for the better in the future.

四年前，当Lee还是一所非常小的学校时，他们也毫不后悔的选择了ALAIS。在今年毕业的高年级学生们应该会怀念他们的中学时代。马上就要启程去一个全新的环境，一个全新的国家就读大学，对于很多人来说都是一个非常大的挑战。但正因为在Lee的时间里，12年级的毕业生已经习惯了美国的学校制度，并为在美国的文化习惯等做好了充分的准备，使他们能够无缝对接美国大学生活。在Lee期间，12年级收获很多，也改变很多，我们希望他们将来能够继续朝着更好的方向发展。
